The Colorado ZH2 is a collaboration of General motors and the US Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering center (TARDEC).

The huge muscular body of this vehicle has a Chevrolet Equinox hydrogen fuel cell test vehicle’s 177hp electric motor and a proton exchange membrane fuel-cell tank.
For military use, it has been added with a suspension lift and 37 inch BFGoodrich Mud terrain tires.

The major advantages of this vehicle in army is said to be- * It’s quiet and efficient powertrain which can be useful in silent operations.
* Water vapour emissions which can be converted to re-ionized potable water.
* Ability to extract hydrogen from military grade JP8 fuel.

But along with these advantages, hydrogen fuel has its disadvantages
* Hydrogen is highly combustible, but GM says that the tank is heavily protected and also if it’s integrity is compromised the tank has been designed to vent hydrogen up and away.
* Range again is a question, as hydrogen refueling infrastructure is not easily available yet in military bases.

Looks an interesting project!! stay tuned for more
